Invisalign

Dr. Rosenberg has been a preferred provider for Invisalign and Invisalign teen.  Treating selected adults and teens with clear aligners can be an welcome alternative to conventional braces.

One of the primary concerns people often have about orthodontic treatment is the aesthetic impact of wearing braces.  Invisalign® offers an almost invisible alternative.

Invisalign® treatment consists of a series of custom-made aligning trays.  The orthodontist changes the trays periodically to fit the new tooth configuration.  In addition to the reduced visual impact, Invisalign® aligning trays can be temporarily removed for important occasions – meaning that treatment duration is patient-controlled.

What kind of problems can Invisalign® correct?

Like lingual braces (MTM), We find that invisalign is best used to correct minor asthetic issues involving the front teeth.

  • Overcrowding – This occurs when there is too little space for the teeth to align normally in the mouth.  Overcrowding can cause tooth decay and increase the likelihood of gum disease.
  • Gaps between teeth – This can sometimes occur because teeth are missing or because the jaw continues to grow abnormally.
  • Narrow Arches – Invisalign can sometimes be affective broading narrow dental arches.

What does Invisalign® treatment involve?

An examination allows us to determine weather or not your orthodontic problem can be treated with Invisalign.  If so, special impressions are made which allows us to create 3-dimensional digital images.  Dr. Rosenberg then instructs Invisalign’s laboratory to move the teeth into exact predetermined positions.

Once Dr. Rosenberg is satisfied with the virtual treatment plan a unique set of aligners are made.  The number of aligners, varys with the amount of tooth movement required.

What are some considerations when wearing Invisalign® trays?

Life with Invisalign® aligning trays may take several weeks to get used to.  The trays should be worn constantly, except when eating and drinking.  It is important to remove the trays when consuming food or drink because food can become trapped between the tray and the teeth, causing tooth decay.

Usually, new trays are necessary every two weeks and you will be given several sets to change yourself between your appointments.  Appointments can be 3 to 6 weeks apart, however, close monitoring of your progress is necessary to make sure the aligners are effectively moving your teeth.  Remember, not everyone is a candidate for Invisalign treatment.  But it can be a welcome alternative to conventional treatment.
